What a party! What a night!! In a glow of saffron light, hundreds of the Beautifully Dressed gathered in Residence XXV at the Ritz-Carlton to celebrate the ticket release for the Denver Art Museum’s upcoming Yves Saint Laurent show. The event drew the most fabulous and the fashionable, outfitted in everything from genuine YSL to thrift-store chic. A bevy of event and press photographers ensured that nearly every one was captured.
The décor was perfect, using warm colored spotlights and filmy fabric panels to accentuate, but not hide, the elegant bones of the raw space. Sources from both the Museum made clear that much of the event’s success was due to the tireless efforts of Luxe – while Luxe in turn, recognized publicly the contributions of local companies including Audrey Michelle Photography, Oliver Keating & Company, Design Works, bloom, Mark Woolcott Photography, Orchid Liqueurs, Grey Goose and Gourmet Fine Catering.
Denver Art Museum Director Christoph Heinrich shared his story of “falling in love” with the show in Paris, and his determination to bring it to Denver because, as he said to an appreciative crowd, “Denver women are women who can really pull off these dresses.”
Excited attendees were the first to hear about a “Project Runway” style fashion event that will happen at the DAM on March 30, featuring YSL-inspired creations by eight past Project Runway contestants including local favorite Mondo Guerrero. As if that could be topped, they also learned (though some had undoubtedly peeked) that their goodie bags contained a complimentary ticket to the Yves Saint Laurent show (March 25 – July 8, 2012).
In addition to Heinrich, the event was starred with names including DAM Curator of Architecture, Design & Graphics Darrin Alfred, Luxe Magazine Publisher Dana Meachem and Associate Publisher Rochelle Folsom, a rich vein of industry and society standouts such as Cathy McClain Finlon, Holly Kylberg, & Fallene Wells, as well as members of the local press including well-known bloggers and the dailies’ fashion and events reporters.
Overall, a very impressive event, not just in terms of visual impact, but as an illustration of a remarkable team effort in support of two treasures: Yves Saint Laurent and the local cultural institution savvy enough to bring his work to a city some would have thought impossible. SO GLAD we were there!
Note that this ticket-release party was sold out, so be sure to get your ticket to the actual exhibit soon!
